  • Summary:

I am pleased to assume the Editor-in-Chief role of a new journal, which will be published quarterly commencing in January 2010. As a complement to traditional journals, The Medical Roundtable - CV Edition (TMR) will not include original or review articles but will include 7-8 roundtable discussions by experts dealing with controversial issues in cardiology. TMR is a contemporary format for healthcare professional education. By providing the busy physician with a window into the everyday conversations held among expert researchers, clinicians and academicians, TMR is providing access to the experience of colleagues and peers on the forefront of cardiovascular medicine.

Our Preview Issue includes four moderated discussions held throughout the past several months. The first panel, on aortic valve disease in the elderly, was led by Dr. Jeffrey Borer, Professor of Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Cardiology at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Drs. Joseph Alpert of the University of Arizona and Dr. Blase Caraballo at the Michael De Bakey VA Center in Houston, Texas, participated in this discussion.
