Dr. Andreotti is a noninvasive cardiologist working in Rome. She receieved an MD, a specialty in cardiology and pneumology, and a PhD from Italy, the UK, and Netherlands. In 1990-1992 she was principal investigator of a British Heart Foundation Project, and in 1993 she became Lecturer at the London University Hammersmith Hospital Medical School.
Since 2005 she is an aggregated professor of cardiovascular medicine at the Catholic University of Rome. In 2007-2009 she coordinated a multicenter study funded by the Italian University and Research Ministry.
In 2008-2010, Professor Andreotti chaired the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Working Group on Thrombosis, a body convened to stimulate research and disseminate knowledge on thrombosis and bleeding-related disorders.
Her main interests are coagulation, fibrinolysis, atherothrombosis, and management of atrial fibrillation and acute coronary syndromes. She has hands-on experience in setting up a biochemical ab and in supervising clinical, research and technical staff.
Dr. Andreotti has contributed to ESC guidelines and is a founder of the Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis. She sits on the Editorial Boards of the European Heart Journal, Heart and Giornale Italiano di Cardiologia. She has given approximately 130 invited lectures and authored 168 articles in international medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine.
