Dr. Devries is the Executive Director of the Gaples Institute for Integrative Cardiology and is Associate Professor in the Division of Cardiology at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Dr. Devries has unique training in both cardiovascular disease and in integrative medicine. He attended medical school and completed his internal medicine training at the University of Michigan. He then completed cardiovascular subspecialty training at Washington University. In 2005, he completed a fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona with Dr. Andrew Weil.
Most recently, he co-edited the textbook, "Integrative Cardiology" (Oxford University Press, 2010) and authored the book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Cholesterol" (Warner Wellness, 2007). Dr. Devries previously authored the weekly column "Heart Beat" in the Chicago Sun-Times. He lectures nationally and has been voted by his peers many times over as one of the "Best Doctors in America."
